The House

The origin of the name "Casa Nª Sra do Carmo" is associated with the its private chapel.

The chapel shows in its main facade an architectural language that brings us back to the eighteenth century and to a work by the architect Nicolau Nasoni.

The house is located in a small housing estate surrounded by vineyards, called Lugar da Portela, in the parish of Fontelas, municipality of Peso da Régua.

The current owners decided to conduct a thorough renovation of the house, turning it into a Rural Tourism unit, a project by the architect João Santos.

In front of the main house, in the vineyard of the property with 3 hectares, there is another building where we offer small independent houses that we call Villas. Spaces for those looking for total privacy.

The Casa Nª Sra do Carmo also offers a panoramic view of the Douro valley and of the surrounding mountains with their terraced vineyards. It is certainly a unique place to spend relaxing moments, with tranquility and nature all around us.
